World Environmental Day 2018 celebrated

World Environmental Day was celebrated on 5th June 2018 with the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution” at Vignan School, Thimmapuram (near Visakhapatnam) under the auspicious of the Natural History Society of India (NHSI), Andhra Pradesh Natural History Parks and Museums Trust (AP-NHPM), Vizag, Forest Department, Govt. of A.P, Science for Better Society and Vignan Schools. On this occasion, drawing competition is organized for the school children. This competition brought out creativity and inner feelings of the children. Plants were distributed to children to encourage plantation. To create awareness, a public rally was conducted with school children, teachers, forest officers and the friends of NHSI-NHPM. Later, plantation was done at AP-NHPM Site and Vignan School.
On this occasion, Chief guest Sri Selvam, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer gave a presentation by explaining the importance of conservation of Environment and Nature. Prof. K.V.Subbarao, President of NHSI and Member Secretary of AP-NHPM presented the theme and activities of the upcoming Park and Museum. Smt. Padmavathi, Principal and Sri. Satyanarayana, Fellow of NHSI spoke on this occasion and distributed prizes to the winners of the drawing competition.
NHSI also celebrated World Environmental Day along with rural schools to propagate the importance of environment and effects on the daily life of human beings and animals.
