Celebration of Earth Day
Andhra Pradesh Natural History Parks and Museums Trust, Vizag celebrated “ Earth Day” in collaboration with Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, TPT Colony branch, Visakhapatnam on 22nd April, 2019. Dr. Jagadeeshan Loganathan, Scientist from National Institute of Oceanography, Visakhapatnam delivered a popular lecture on corals and their relevance to ecosystem. He also highlighted human activities which are leading to extinction of corals. More than 200 students participated in this programme. Students asked many questions on corals and their formation. Before the lecture, Dr. Shaik Jeelani Saheb, Scientist-in-Residence, KSR Trust, explained why Earth Day is celebrated throughout the world and what are the activities students should take up to keep the Earth in good health? All the participants of this programme took an oath on this occasion to preserve Earth.
Besides Andhra Pradesh Natural History Parks and Museums Trust, Vizag, Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, Department of Forests, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India, Natural History Society of India and Earth Education Network joined in these celebrations.
